My friend Jim
The readers of my other blog will recall me speaking of a longtime friend Jimmy that on June 18th of last year told me he had lung cancer. The fight ended last Tuesday. Some would say he lost the battle with cancer. I prefer to think that he won the battle with life. I have never known anyone in that situation that handled it as well as he did.
I last saw and spoke to him about a month before his death. He came in and sat beside me at the coffee counter one day between his chemo and radiation treatments. He'd had a feeding tube put in about a week prior to that and was drinking a glass of water as we talked. He'd heard about the test results that my wife had gotten and tried his best to make me feel better. That was Jimmy.
